GCSE English Literature Group Classes

We are currently exploring the possibility of offering a structured online GCSE English Literature group programme for students who would like additional support with their GCSE preparation.
The programme will focus on the major GCSE English Literature texts, including:
Macbeth
Romeo and Juliet
An Inspector Calls
A Christmas Carol
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
How would the programme work?
Rather than studying one text over a full academic year, we are considering a more intensive structure in which each text would be completed in a maximum of 10 weeks.
This would allow students to work through approximately three texts within one academic term, depending on their individual needs and the texts they are studying at school.
Each course would cover the text systematically, including:
plot and structure
characters and relationships
themes and key ideas
context
language, form and structure
important quotations
analytical writing
essay planning
examination-style questions
timed practice and revision
The aim would be to provide students with a complete and structured understanding of each text, rather than focusing only on predicted examination questions.
Small Group Classes
To ensure that students receive meaningful attention and have opportunities to participate, ask questions and receive feedback, groups will be kept relatively small.
Minimum group size: 5 students
Maximum group size: 7 students
Lesson duration: 60 minutes
Fee: £20 per student per 60-minute lesson
Maximum course length: 10 weeks per text
A course would only be opened when there is sufficient interest to form a viable group of at least four students.
This means that a complete 10-week course would cost £200 per student.
Who would the classes be for?
Students may be following different GCSE examination boards, such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR or Eduqas. Students studying the same text could therefore potentially learn together, while examination practice and question formats would be adapted where necessary.
Groups would be formed based primarily on the text students need to study, as well as their level, examination board and availability.
We are currently assessing demand before finalising the groups and timetable.
When would classes take place?
We are considering weekday evening classes, approximately between 7:00 and 8:00 pm.
At this stage, we would like to understand which weekday evenings are most suitable for families. We would also welcome any alternative availability you may have.
Why are we asking you to complete this form?
This is an expression of interest rather than a confirmed enrolment.
The information you provide will help us understand:
which texts students need support with;
which examination board they follow;
which text they are currently studying;
their current working grade;
which texts they expect to study next;
which evenings they are available;
and how many students may be interested in each course.
Once we have collected the responses, we can identify the most suitable groups and timetable before confirming the programme.
